free video editing for teachers and students Our guest blogger today is Kristi Espiñeira. Kristi serves in two crucial roles here at Pixorial – as our Customer Service Guru, and as our Office Manager.  Kristi is also a former teacher who knows firsthand the challenges of working in education. Building on that experience, she’s masterminded a new program custom-built to meet the unique needs of educators. Let’s find out more! *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  * The big news at Pixorial this week is that we’ve rolled out “Pixorial for Educators,” which provides educators with a Premium25 account (up to 25GB of storage and access to ALL of our Premium features). Our goal here is simple: we want to encourage teachers, coaches and other educators to create, edit and share their own videos – and empower their students to do so as well.  Our platform simplifies the technical part of using video so that you can concentrate on what you do best: teaching! This program is near and dear to my heart, and I’m excited to get the word out!  Before I became Pixorial’s Customer Service Guru, I spent a number of years in education, including a few years teaching elementary Spanish. During those years, I always enjoyed using video as a teaching tool.  My middle-schoolers especially loved writing and performing skits to show off their speaking skills; there’s something about a camera that inspires kids to put on their best performance! However, before technology got more advanced, it was never simple to create and edit classroom videos. The challenge was that I didn’t have an easy way to edit the clips, post them on a classroom blog or webpage, or share the footage with the kids so that they could create their own video projects. Time is short when you’re a teacher – and so are funds – so spending a lot of time learning and teaching complicated video editing programs just wasn’t in the cards! Pixorial addresses this challenge by making it easy to create and share video of student projects, field trips, sports events, performances – all of the vibrant and exciting moments that happen in your school.  If you and your students have access to a computer, web browser, and internet access, you can use Pixorial.  We make uploading, editing and sharing video super-easy; you don’t have to download any software, convert video files to different formats, or shuttle files back and forth on USB drives.  Nor do you have to spend a lot of time installing software on students’ computers or teaching them how to use the platform. And when it’s time to share your students’ videos, Pixorial supports both private sharing and publishing to various social sites – you get to decide who views your videos! Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing more tips and tricks for educators and students – but for now, take a look at our FAQ for educators, which will give you an idea of how to get started. We’re also rolling out our Educators Rock newsletter, where we’ll provide tutorials, how-to’s and useful case studies for using video to teach more effectively. Visit this page to sign up. We’d like to wish everyone – teachers and students alike – a great school year!
