Founder's Vision

Several years ago, my father sent me a box of 8 mm films that he had taken during my childhood, some forty years ago. I really wanted to view those films, but I didn't have an 8 mm projector (who does, these days?) After tracking one down, we all settled in to view Dad's cinematic masterpieces. Dad was quite an innovative filmmaker for his time; he had even created a short stop-motion animation of "the stork" delivering me to the hospital, which was followed by scenes from my childhood. What a joy it was to share with my own children some of my favorite childhood memories, and to reminisce with my parents about the good old days!

That experience inspired me to begin chronicling my children's lives in video, and I began recording everything from bedtime stories to soccer games to school plays. As I created my videos, I thought about how they would one day become, like my dad's movies, a window into the past for my children. It struck me that I would never be able to store all of these memories in one safe, convenient place. I realized that one day, not too far in the future, a VCR will be as antiquated and rare a piece of equipment as an 8 mm projector is today. In preserving the past, I realized I also needed to keep an eye on the future.

I began thinking of an easy way to store, safeguard and compile my most treasured family memories. I tried several video editing applications, but found they fell short in many areas. Also, the applications did not provide a way to put all of the media into the same format, or to preserve it from degradation and decay. And frankly, I didn't have the time to spend in front of my computer, uploading hours and hours of video.

After much research and exploration, I came up with the idea of Pixorial: a convenient, affordable online platform to provide you with an organized, digital library where you can view, share and edit your family's video memories. When I ran my idea by Gina, a fellow college alum and friend, she was instantly thrilled by the possibility of preserving her home movie treasures and sharing them with her children. Not only that, but Gina was willing to bring her considerable organizational, marketing and creative skills to Pixorial as a co-founder of our company.

So that's our story: Pixorial was created to make it easy for you view, safeguard, and share your most cherished memories with the ones you love. My words are heartfelt when I say that my vision for Pixorial is that we make it possible for you to Enjoy Your Show. Whether it's a family movie night where you watch your daughter's first dance recital on the t.v., or an office get-together where you toast the retiree on the big screen, capturing and celebrating your moving memories is one of the best ways to celebrate life.
