Pixorial Takes the Stage at The Digital Media Symposium

Remember the cantina scene in Star Wars?

That’s the digital media world in a nutshell.

Here at Pixorial, we’re honored to live and work in an industry that’s fast-paced, future-focused, and populated with lots of fun and interesting characters.

Some of those characters will be sharing their thoughts, perspectives, and opinions at this year’s Digital Media Symposium (DIME) in Boulder, CO on February 17th. Our Founder/CEO Andrés Espiñeira and VP of Communications Melissa Hourigan will be offering their thoughts on the art of storytelling and the ongoing digital media revolution, while joining a diverse lineup of speakers that includes:

- Dr. Alvy Ray Smith, the co-founder of an obscure digital film company called Pixar.
- Harris Morris, president of Harris Broadcast Communications
- Don Hahn, producer of the animated feature films Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and The Nightmare Before Christmas.

If you live in the Denver/Boulder area and want to check this event out – it’s at the St. Julien Hotel in Boulder, from 1PM to 6 PM – click over to DiMe for more information!

How to Rescue Your Old Wedding Videos

Married couples: Do you know where your old wedding videos are?

We’re guessing that they’re probably sitting somewhere in a dusty box, up in the attic or out in the garage. They started out as prized possessions – recorded video of your beautiful day. But as the years rolled by, technology moved on, your humble VHS was replaced by a DVD player, and those videos were all but forgotten.

This wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world if it weren’t for a simple fact: with each passing year, those old videotapes become more prone to the effects of aging. You might pull out the videos some day, only to find that the tapes have degraded to the point of being unwatchable.

Before that happens, there’s a simple and affordable solution available to anyone with video memories captured on tape or film.

Today’s video conversion technology can rescue memories of one of your most important days, transferring VHS, 8mm, reel film, and just about any other old format to the degradation-free digital realm. Better yet, you can painlessly edit these digital clips and share them with anyone.

The really cool thing is that even though they’re digitized, your videos still maintain the same look and feel of the original. To see what I mean, check out this wedding footage of a beautiful ceremony in Spain, circa 1963:

With your digitized videos, you can…
- Surprise your spouse with a DVD of your wedding. A truly awesome and unexpected anniversary gift!
- You can use the same approach to surprise your parents. Sneak out their videos and give the gift of memories.
- Grandparents having a big 50th anniversary celebration? A converted 8mm, VHS or film reel would be a surefire hit at the party.

4.)  With the video still highlighted, hit the Videocard button under the “Share” menu.

5.) Select a background from our pre-made card designs, and add your own text to the card.

6.)  Choose the recipient (or add a new contact), and hit send.

It’s that simple. Five minutes, and you’ve got a unique, personalized greeting that you can send to anyone with an email account.
