Feel free to add your tips to the list! Use a tripod or make sure that you have a place where you can set the camera for a steady shot – especially during longer shots. Bring extra batteries – there won’t always be an outlet nearby. Be careful of zooming during a shot – this can look jumping when viewing later. Avoid scary zombie faces – consider having your subject in the shade if you are outside to avoid dark circles around the eyes. Check the sound for the room or location that you are recording – it will be noticeable later. Consider a lavalier microphone or lapel mic (wireless or corded) that clips on to your subject’s shirt.
